Lanzarote in the Canary Islands is home to three main holiday resorts. Along with the Millionaire’s Marina of Puerto Calero. Which boasts two upmarket hotels and a host of expensive yachts and craft as well as plenty of good quality restaurants.

Each resort has its own history, character, attractions and plus points. With all of them offering high standards of accommodation and boasting an excellent selection of Lanzarote villas and hotels.

So here is a sneak peak of some of the favourite holiday hotspots that have an excellent selection of Lanzarote apartments and villas.

Puerto del Carmen

Formerly known as La Tiñosa Puerto del Carmen emerged to become Lanzarote´s leading resort during the package holiday boom years of the 1970´s. And is still the most popular destination on the island today. The resort boasts a large number of apartment complexes – reflecting its position as the best spot for a booking a budget holiday. But there are also plenty of decent hotels and villas in Puerto del Carmen for rent too.

The island government has recently spent over €16 million sprucing up Carmen’s image in order to maintain its competiveness against newer destinations around the world. So there’s never been a better time to visit.

Holiday Villas In Costa Teguise

Costa Teguise is located north of the sole international airport at Arrecfie. Some 15 minutes transfer time away. And was developed as an upmarket resort during the 1980´s – attracting well heeled tourists from Germany and Scandinavia initially.

The resort was developed under the aegis of César Manrique – who created the central hub of the Pueblo Marinero and had a hand in the design of the Gran Melia Salinas Hotel. And is also home to some great beaches. However Costa Teguise´s popularity has waned a little over the last decade thanks to the fact that Playa Blanca in the south has emerged as real rival for visitor numbers.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca was developed much later than the other resorts during the 1990´s. Quickly establishing itself as the second most popular holiday destination on the island. Thanks to its great beaches and splendid microclimate. A factor that becomes especially salient during the winter months.

There´s an abundance of good quality hotels and villas in Playa Blanca for visitors to select from. Whilst the resort has a delightful sea front promenade which unites the three main beaches of Playa Flamingo, Playa Blanca and Playa Dorada. The famous sandy coves of Papagayo are also just a short walk away.
