One California city that has always been a magnet for immigrants is San Francisco. The city still attracts hundreds of tradeshow events and serves as a major port. Chinatown, at the foot of Nob Hill, covers some twelve city blocks, and with its temples, rich bazaars, picturesque colors and customs, it is one of the most interesting areas of the city. In 1906, the fire and earthquake destroyed much of Chinatown and most of its inhabitants fled to Oakland, other cities in the East Bay, or settled in refugee camps at the west end of the Presidio. There were 500 refugees in that encampment. Finally, the new Chinatown was constructed and it was much healthier and safer for the residents of the area. It was a vast improvement. Similar to San Francisco, there are a large number of international events, recreational opportunities and entertainment venues to occupy your time in San Jose. Located about 46 miles southeast of San Francisco, San Jose was founded in 1777 and was the first Spanish pueblo of California. As it turned out, San José became California’s first civilian settlement in 1797 and was the site of the first state capital of California. With a population of over 1-million people, San José is the third largest city in California and is the 10th largest city in the U.S. The number of people living there grew to 750 in the year 1840. It’s important to note that since San Jose was established, it has had an important Spanish persuasion. As Mexico gradually withdrew from the California territory, the area known as San Jose continued to grow from a cultural, political and economic perspective. As such, San Jose Translation Services have always played an integral role in the affairs of the city. Between the time that the U.S. took control of California and the year 1847, the native Indians in the San Jose area led a brief fight against the town. Four years after the first American forces occupied San Jose, the area became an official California city and the state’s capital.
Unlike San Francisco and San Jose, San Diego is a metropolitan area located in southern California. Each year, hundreds of thousands of visitors take a short trek through the downtown area to visit the original Spanish village that Is still intact today. Because the land changed hands many times throughout the years and was nearby Mexico, it became an important center for languages.
